Son of Semele Ensemble, Playwrights Arena and Rogue Machine Theatre Company are collaborating to produce The Ballad of Bimini Baths in May-July 2018.

Plunge (Son of Semele Ensemble) is set in 1916 when an art curator sent to San Quentin for child molestation meets a much more murderous predator.

Tar (Playwrights Arena) observes two attendants of color at Bimini Baths in 1939 as they clean a victim of the La Brea Tar Pits, making a white man white again.

Mexican Day (Rogue Machine) is the day people of color can enter Bimini Baths, the day before the pool is cleaned...until a sit-in protest led by Hisaye Yamamoto and Bayard Rustin in 1948 changes everything.
